I am an Ikerbasque Research Fellow at the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) in Spain, where my research aims to use scientific evidence to help practitioners and policymakers make better decisions for nature. I’m especially interested in forest biodiversity and my work has focussed on assessing the effects of forest management and restoration on different environmental priorities often using evidence synthesis methods like systematic review and meta-analysis. I’m also increasingly interested in how evidence is used to inform practice and policy, what impedes and facilitates evidence use, and what solutions to the lack of evidence use might look like.
I recently started my own research group at BC3 where we currently have projects focussed on: (i) assessing the impacts and feasibility of Climate Smart Forestry in northern Spain, and (ii) the importance of biases when assessing the effectiveness of forest restoration.
