I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre, having received my Ph.D. in ecology from the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Previously, my research focused on wildlife conservation, specifically on individual movement, population networks, and landscape restoration. Inspired by my prior studies, I have come to recognize the significance of forest restoration and conservation for wildlife, and I am curious about the potential benefits that forest ecosystem restoration/conservation may bring.
I am now interested in the growing effects on biodiversity related to China’s massive forest restoration and conservation projects. For example, I am attempting to account for the biodiversity effectiveness of China’s forest restoration efforts by considering the influence of international trade. Additionally, the vast areas of 'abandoned plantations' in China have also aroused my interest: Is it sustainable, or are there potentially better avenues for transformation? We are trying to formulate constructive suggestions for global forest restoration by drawing inferences from China's reforestation efforts.
