Centre for Global Wood Security

I received my doctoral degree in Zoology from Peking University, where I focused on research and practice related to biodiversity conservation. I teach “Conservation Biology” and “Conservation Biogeography” to undergraduate students at the same university. I am the co-founder of “China’s Nature Watch”, which reports on biodiversity conservation issues in China from a third-party perspective. Based on the open data source from Global Forest Watch, I delivered the first nationwide interpretation of forest changes in China. Additionally, I initiated and developed the database for China’s Nature Watch, which includes distribution data of over three thousand terrestrial vertebrate species across the country and digital information on all of China’s national protected areas.

I have contributed to more than 70 scientific research articles, books, and reports covering various species, including the Giant Panda, Snow Leopard, Kiang, Chiru, and Pika, as well as diverse habitat types such as forests, grasslands, wetlands, and urban. Currently, I am working on establishing the pathways that connect field research to conservation policy through solid scientific approaches and independent outcome assessments.
