I am a remote sensing scientist with specializations in forest monitoring and artificial intelligence. As PhD candidate at Wageningen University, I work on satellite-based detection and characterization of tropical forest disturbances and their direct drivers. My recent studies focused on the attribution of direct drivers to forest disturbances and detailed mapping of logging road constructions.
My work relies heavily on multi-sensor approaches (optical and radar) and the use of deep learning techniques, to enable near real-time information about forest changes and their impacts. Besides my PhD research, I am involved in the development and operationalization of large-scale forest monitoring systems (e.g. RADD alerts and Forest roads).
