I am an Associate Professor at Wageningen University where I lead the Radar Remote Sensing team at the Laboratory of Geo-information Science and Remote Sensing, and teach radar remote sensing to MSc students. With my team, I focus on utilizing radar remote sensing to research human activities in and the dynamics and drivers of forest ecosystems at regional to global scales, with a particular emphasis on multi-sensor methods, near-real-time change monitoring, and the integration of in-situ field data. I earned my PhD in 2015 from Wageningen University and my MSc in 2011 from the University of Jena. I developed the pan-tropical RADD forest disturbance alerts, represent the land community in the Sentinel-1 Next-Generation Mission Advisory Group, and co-lead the GFOI R&D group on deforestation alerts. I am committed to ensuring open access to data and tools, effectively communicating research findings, and fostering capacity building to maximize the impact of our work.
