I am an Associate Professor at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. I am the founder of the AfriMont plot network, which helps monitor forest dynamics in African Mountains. I am a key contributor to AFRITRON (which monitors forest dynamics in African lowlands) and I am co-founder of the Tropical Forest Arena (TFA) – an open arena for exchange of information and debates on issues related to tropical forests. My research interests, at the interface between natural and social sciences, have focused on tropical forest dynamics & carbon stocks, sustainable use of forest ecosystem services, forest conservation and local communities’ adaptation to climate change. I currently leading an ERC Consolidator grant focused on sustainable extraction of non-timber forest products in the Congo Basin and West Africa.
