Centre for Global Wood Security

I will be joining the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Cambridge as Associate Professor of tropical plant ecology in the autumn, and am currently based at the University of Birmingham. I investigate the impact of global change on forests, their biodiversity, and the ecosystem services they provide. My research focuses on two fundamental components of forests: the composition of tree species and the dynamics of these systems. With background and heart in Tropical Ecology, I focus on the tropics but work across systems learn from them and understand global patterns and trends in forest dynamics. My group investigates how forest composition and dynamics vary across space and over time at macroecological scales and uses field ecology to understand the processes behind forest change. I have been working with policymakers and practitioners across several projects and countries to bringing solutions to our environmental crisis through inclusive and fair science.
