Centre for Global Wood Security

I am a Professor in the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources and a Fellow of the Gund Institute for Environment at the University of Vermont.  My research and fieldwork, which take place mainly in forested ecosystems, lie at the nexus of biodiversity conservation, human wellbeing and natural resource economics. His work looks at the biodiversity, economic and human health impacts of forest conservation and forest degradation. I amthe author of over 85 peer-reviewed articles and two books, Valuing Ecosystem Services (Earthscan, London, 2008) and A Field Guide to Economics for Conservationists (Roberts and Company, 2015).  When not working, I love hiking, running, biking, birding, and skiing.
